Arrows of the Almighty
A New Year’s Prayer For 2015
“Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)
When John the Baptist made the profoundly beautiful declaration about our Lord’s public prominence eclipsing his own, it completed his joy! His joy was full! Such joy is only possible when in the secret places of our life where no one else can come or see God’s Spirit has so disciplined us that with John the Baptist we can say. “He must increase and I must decrease!” There our secret desires and selfish ambitions are laid aside because the great desire of our heart is aligned with Him.
Lord, magnify Yourself in my life! Increase my faith in your power and willingness to provide my material needs. Decrease all fear-fueled efforts to financially secure my future for I am with Paul content in whatever condition I find myself knowing that my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:19) I have faith in Your love for me to make me unselfish as I enjoy the privilege of great generosity to my neighbors. Your resurrected life is most real to me now, Lord, as all fear of death and the future is gone for it is no long I but Christ living His life in and through my own.
Yes, in the secret place of my heart may Jesus Christ be all in all as Paul declared in Colossians 3:11.
