THE POWER OF GOD’S WORD

Read Genesis 1-2.

“And God said, …and it was so” (Gen. 1:9).

The Bible assumes the existance of God for it tells us that before there was a beginning; God was.  God is eternal and is the Creator of the earth and its inhabitants.  Being eternal He is therefore separate from all that is created; He is holy.  We also learn from this account of creation that man is the special purpose of His creation.  And here we learn just how God created.  In the beginning God spoke and what God speaks happens.  His word creates.  He cannot lie (Num. 23:19).  His Word will not return to Him unfulfilled but will create what has been spoken (Is. 55:11).  Therefore it is recorded in the first chapter of Genesis that with ten creative words God spoke the world into being (Gen. 1:3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11,14, 20, 24, 16).  Almighty God spoke His creative words of creation and the world was.  Out of nothing God spoke all that is into existence (Heb. 11:3).

God spoke to Abraham, he believed God's word and he became the father of faith.  God spoke to Moses and Abraham’s seed was set free.  God spoke to the Old Testament prophets and that Word was Israel’s guiding light, a check against sin, their strength and the force of life itself (Ps. 119:11, 28, 50).

In Jesus Christ, that creative Word became flesh (Jn. 1:14) and won our salvation on the cross of Calvary. And now through faith in Him that same Word dwells in all who believe creating His purposes of a new Kingdom of holiness and righteousness that shall endure forever.

Let that Word have its full intended effect in your life for it is “living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerned of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Heb. 4:12).  Nothing is more deeply inside you than God’s Word.  It makes you a new creature in Christ and enables you to develop a godly character.  Drop off that which His Presence rejects and come into harmony with His indwelling creative Word.

Prayer: “Lord, this day I yield to Your Presence and the power of Your creative Word within Me.  Amen.”
