HOLINESS AND HUMILITY

Read Psalms 25-27.

“The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Ps. 25:14).

The secret the LORD reveals is Himself!  “Fear the Lord and you will gain knowledge of God” (Pro. 2:5).  One who walks in the fear of the Lord is one who becomes intimate with God wanting only that which is of His holiness.  The more we become intimate with God the more we walk beyond obedience into that fellowship which exists between friends.  It is fellowship that goes beyond considering self into being haunted by His Presence.  A child unconsciously lives out of dependence upon the parent.  Such is the result of the covenant of God through Jesus Christ His Son.  “What man is he that fears the Lord” (25:12)?  He is that man who is unconsciously humble before the Almighty Holiness of His God!

As we begin to recognize God’s joys we begin to understand His heart.  The reason for our creation in the first place is to be a joy to Him, fellowshipping with Him in the joys and ultimate victory over all that is not holy and true and righteous.  The true mark of intimacy is when we start sharing our joys.  Those who share their joys are true friends.  Those little things that are intimate expressions of our contentment with each other are the most precious of all.  He knows every detail of our lives, yet we can learn of the details of His nature when we live in harmonious obedience with Him.  As we walk more and more with the Lord we start seeking more moments of His joy and less the moments when we were blessed.  May we be so sensitive to the joys of the Lord that we serve Him with great exuberance discovering that our daily lives go beyond seeking to please Him to simply enjoying living in our friendship.  It does not occur to us to ask for His will to be done because we are His will!  When saved and sanctified our ordinary choices are the same as His.  If in our living we feel a check from within stop, our harmony has been broken!  Wait and your common sense will be instructed in the holy way of God.  “God is our Refuge” (Deut. 33:12, Ps. 46:1, 141:9, Heb. 6:18)!  There, we are safe and secure.

Prayer: “I sanctify my life to You O Lord with meekness and fear.  I long to be Your friend.  Amen.”
